​Point 1

​문섬 및 범섬

어미섬과 새끼섬으로 이뤄진 범섬은 깎아지른주상절리와 거대한 해식동굴이 일품이다.
해안선으로부터 50미터 이내에 산호가 집중적으로 분포한다. 금빛나팔돌산호，해송 등 돌산호와 각산호의 주요 서식지이다.

Beomseom island

Beomseom island, consisting of a mother island and a baby island, has the beautiful precipitous Jusangjeolli Cliff (columnar joint) and a huge sea cave. Corals are concentrated around 50 meters off the coastline. It is an 
important habitat for stony coral and thorny coral (fintipatharia) such as Tubastraea coccinea and Antipathes japonica.

Point 2

강정등대

제주해군기지 서방파제로부터 100미터 정도 떨어져 있다. 강정항을 드나드는 선박의 바닷길을 밝힌다. 
강정등대 바다 속, 수심 5미터부터 15미터까지 동쪽을 바라보는 수직 암반지대에 연산호가 잘 발달되어 있다.

Gangjeong lighthouse

Located 100 meters away from the west breakwater of the Jeju Naval base, it lights the sea route of ships that come in and out Gangjeong port. Here, soft corals grow well 5 to 15 meters below sea level on the eastern­facing vertical rock face.

Point 3

서건도

강정천 동쪽에 위치한 조그만 섬으로 썰물 시 도보로 건널 수 있다. 수심은 15미터이고 지름 3미터 크기의 수중동굴이 있다. 동굴 주위로 분홍바다맨드라미가 밀집되어 있고 빛단풍돌산호， 거품돌산호，금빛나팔돌산호 등 돌산호가 쉽게 관찰된다.

Seogeondo island

A small island located on the east side of Gangjeong stream, Seogeondo can be reached by walking at low tide. The surrounding water depth is at 15 meters, with an underwater cave. Concentrated around the underwater cave, 
3 meters in diameter, are densely populated Alcyonium gracillimums. Around this island, stony coral such as Montipora trabeculata, Alveopora japonica and Tubastraea coccinea can be easily found.

 

Point 4

산호정원

강정과 법환마을 그리고 범섬 사이 수심 15~25미터 바다 속에 있다. 폭 100미터 길이 500미터 이상 73,800m2의 면적을 자랑하는 '산호정원’은 단일 면적，산호개체수와 다양성에서 타의추종을 불허하는 제주바다 최대，최고의 연산호 군락지이다.

Coral garden

Located 15 to 25 meters below the sea between Gangjeong, Beophwan village and Beomseom island, the ‘coral garden’ has an area of 73,800m2, 100 meters wide and over 500 meters long. It is the largest and best soft coral colony in the Jeju sea, incomparable in terms of population and variety in a single area.

 

7개의 법적 보호지역으로 중목 지정

서귀포 강정과 법환마을，범섬 일대는 유네스코 지정 생물권보전지역(2002.12), 문화재청 지정 천연기념물 제421 호 
문섬. 범섬천연보호구역 (2000.7), 문화재청 지정 천연기념물 제442호 제주연안 연산호군락 (2004.12), 해양수산부 
지정 생태경관보전지역(2002.11),제주특별자치도 지정 절대보전지역 (2004.10), 해양수산부 지정, 절대보전연안지역(2007.4), 서귀포 해양도립공원 등 7개의 법적 보호지역으로 지정, 보전되고 있다.

 

Overlapping designation of seven legal protected areas

The whole area of Gangjeong in Seogwipo, Beophwan village, and Beomseom island has been designated
and protected into seven legal preservation areas: designated as a biosphere preservation area by UNESCO 
(Dec., 2002), designated as Natural monument No.421 'Moonseom island-Beomseom island1 by the Cultural 
Heritage Administration (Jul., 2000), designated as Natural monument No.442 'Jeju coast soft coral reef', an ecosystem 
conservation area by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (Nov., 2002), an absolute preservation area 
designated by the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province (Oct., 2004), an absolute preservation coast area designated by 
the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (Apr., 2007) and as Seogwipo provincial marine park.
